Panoramas

Did you know the iPhone specifically pulls all your panorama shots from you Camera Roll into a separate album? I just discovered it! I loved these moments and the perspective that panorama gives the camera. Here are my favorites from the last year... Enjoy!

South Beach, Hilton Head Island
Inside the Zach Theatre, Austin
Banks of Colorado River, Austin
University of Georgia Commencement at Sanford Stadium, Athens
Sailing the Aegean, Greece

Looking back at Zanzibar

The island of Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania, is one of the most beautiful places I've seen. I studied in Tanzania with UGA's African Studies Institute. It was the reason I started my blog! I read through my posts from Zanzibar again this morning and it brought such a smile to my face. Read (1) & (2).

Zanzibar's been having some problems recently. It's an island that heavily depends on tourist revenue, but they've had a hard time getting tourists because of acid attacks. Earlier this year, two British girls had acid thrown on them in the middle of the city. Their bodies are badly, badly scarred. Check out this article to learn more. Luckily, the Zanzibari government has arrested 15 people associated with the attacks. Because I loved Zanzibar so much, this news was deeply troubling but hopefully things will be better with the arrests.

I never uploaded pictures onto LT&C of Zanzibar, so better late than never. Enjoy...

Freddy Mercury was born in Zanzibar! He has/had a restaurant in Stone Town.

Miles of Mangroves

Still not sure how this didn't win the UGA Photo Contest.

My waterproof camera case came in handy while snorkeling.
It's always nice to take a stroll down memory lane.

Great Gift Idea for Study Abroad Students!

If you're studying abroad, taking a big trip or want to give your parents and family a nice thank you gift upon your return, I would definitely recommend doing something similar to my project!

My roommate, Sam, came home from an awesome ski trip in Switzerland and explained the idea to our apartment. I knew my parents and grandparents would absolutely love it.

Here's the gist:
Take a photo of yourself in front of an important location in the cities you visit. Ask to borrow a piece of paper from the hostel front desk or bring your own. As you can tell, I wasn't consistent with the type of paper I used, but I think it made the whole thing look authentic. Use "Thanks for Giving Me the World" or come up with your own special phrase!

I started in early March with my trip to Brussels (holding the beer at Delirium Tremens). It was so fun to plan it and think about how the final result would look. I printed the pictures, framed it for my parents and grandparents and gave it to them about a month after I got home.
Thanks- Under the Eiffel Tower
For- Outside the Prague Castle
Giving- In the Courtyard at AUR
Me- Inside an Ancient Coliseum in Pompeii
The- Delirium in Brussels
World- Fontana di Trevi
Seriously, do this. It doesn't take that much work and you'll smile every time you look at it.

ray of light

As I was leaving the Campo di Fiori market with fresh produce and spices, I stumbled upon this street corner on my way back to the tram. It took my breath away, especially with the way the sun was shining in the alleyway. Who says graffiti can't be beautiful?

just spent an hour on pinterest...

...but I'm too lazy to pin. It's a beautiful day in Rome! We had class on the terrace today, facing all of Rome. We could even see the snow-capped mountains far in the distance. Off to enjoy the sunshine.

CIAO!

little this, little that.

Books, love, a slight melancholia, and an overwhelming excitement for the next few months... I think it all fits rather well together.
