that's amore

I've done a bit of traveling in my 20 years, yet somehow, never made it to Rome. For a last hoorah of the summer, my family took a short trip to the Eternal City, the Beautiful City, the Ancient City. I don't know what it feels like to fall in love, but if it's anything like the way I felt in Rome, sign me up. Now.

We rented an apartment instead of getting a hotel like we had done in Amsterdam the summer before. However, Amsterdam in June & Rome in July are 2 totally different cities. Rome is HOT, and they don't rock the air conditioning like we do in the USA. The apartment was on the 5th floor and only had a small air conditioner that really just didn't cut it. That first morning after being up all night, taking the Metro to then carry my bag up 5 flights of stairs... was probably the low point of the trip, but again, I was in Rome. No complaining.

The week was incredible. I ate a lot of pasta, drank a lot of wine and enjoyed it so much.
This is our apartment, about a 5 minute walk from the Spanish Steps.

This is my family, having a small pre-dinner snack in the Piazza Navona.

 St. Peter's Basilica.

Our waiter decided to be funny with my pasta.

I threw a penny in the Trevi Fountain to promise my eventual return to Rome.

Gladiators not included.

CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!!!
